I've been reading the 2018 Miglia rules and I note that the TQ allow for a single rear wheel speed sensor. As I plan on going digital dash can somebody please educate me on how this is done please?

depends on the set up you have. but a static sensor attached to a caliper or a back plate and a moving trigger that attaches to a disc or a drum or even a wheel. there are many ways.

I'd originally planned to use a magnet attached to one of the output shafts until I saw this rule. I'm keeping the rear drums on 10" wheels so it sounds likely best option is to drill a hole in the backing plate and stick the magnet to the inside of the drum?

If you use a Hall effect sensor you won’t need a magnet.
The trip meter in my rally car uses a sensor mounted in the rear backplate that ‘counts’ the heads of the wheel studs as they go past.
