Hi
Thought I better join having enjoyed guest status for some time
I'm Andy and have just moved back to Lancashire after spending the last ten years in Malmo, Sweden. About six years ago I acquired a 1970 Bronze Yellow Mk3 Mini 1000 in Vasteras about one hour west of Stockholm. It replaced a red UK Mini Sprite that I had in our first years in Sweden. It had done about 57k kms and has a history from new. It drove the 600kms down to Malmo perfectly despite its (I wish I had checked beforehand) 28 year old tyres. Minis are known as "Hundkoja" or "dog kennels" in Sweden and have quite an big following. It has a few Swedish features....rear seat belts, front indicators that act as driving lights, and, although its a Mk3, its still badged as an Austin...and it is LHD of course. Sadly it doesn't have the headlight wipers that Minis gained a couple of years later.
Anyway, coming back to the UK, I couldn't leave it behind could I?? So I drove it back through Germany, the Netherlands etc hustling Audi R8s and suchlike out of the way on the Autobahn. Its now safely on its UK age related "H" plates and enjoying its life back home. Hope to see some of you out and about over the coming months
