Opened car up in readiness for mechanic I now have no ignition light!!!!!!!!!!

Mechanic came, fully charged battery  and new batts in fobs resychronised.,  he shorted starter out and it turned. Fuel gauge now not working and he was a bit non plussed Suspicions are its the immobiliser Weather foul up here so car is going to his workshop undercover for full investigation.

Elimination time.  Going to systematically replace simple fixes so before car goes off to mechanic have ordered set of siemens relays and an engine relay pack too.  Cannot find anywhere the inertia cut off switch MHQ100130 new or used for love nor money.  Any ideas

by the way fuel gauge is working!  extra 10 litres of unleaded simples!

As long as you hear the fuel pump on ignition, then the inertia switch is fine

New relays and engine management one near servo all still dead no turn over and no dash lights bar sds which goes off as normal. other electrics working ie lights horn wipers etc.

Must be immobiliser or ECU me thinks.

Its being towed off to mechanic tonight for his attention.

I think your fault has changed, so you might have more than one issue.  If the car turns over (which it did) that eliminates the immobiliser and you said had no spark.   That is likely to only be the coil pack or the crank sensor.   Now its not turning over that will be a different issue and could be linked to the immobiliser but why would that just stop working?  Lets hope the mechanic knows MPi's well otherwise they may make it worse!  Good luck

Check all the vacuum lines and any gaskets you've removed for air leaks

will do although the only two removed in the head gasket replacement, were servo feed and manifold.  Manifold one renewed as a matter of course but will check seating of servo pipe and rubber pipes to throttle body later.

Thank you

ok have renewed manifold plug in servo point and problem still persists car settles out at around 2000 rpm.  Also now have overheating problem with steam from rad core.  Fan works if put 12v through it, Have ordered new one and new temp sensor. Is there any way of testing the idle valve?

Have had to cancel two MOT appointments getting rather fedup!!
