Since my bearing failure at the end of last summer

I am very concerned about every little non normal sound in my mini

I've noticed that the engine rocks a little on the top engine 'stay' support, not exactly sure what it is called

I've double checked it's fully tightened (the nut underneath is a pita to get a spanner to on the Japanese Spi) but there is just enought 'play' to make a small noise when you pick up on the clutch or 'jig' the clucth up

I was just wondering if other owners have this problem

the part fastens on the bracket that holds the clutch master cylinder (and the other end is on the block, mine also has an earth wire attatched to it too)

If the engine rocks it more than likley knocks too. its a common thing

The later type one piece stabilizer bushes should cure it.

Advise it to be done asap as it will be stressing the exhaust joints

At the same time change out the bushes on the bottom stabiliser bar too (Transfer case forwards to front subframe)

Sorry for the hijack but my 998 has the standard top stabilizer and a bottom one on the same side going rearwards between a bracket on the diff cover and the subframe.

I believe this is not the way nature intended but is there any engineering reason that this will not suffice?

That'd be an aftermarket one  - bracket from the transfer case  and bolts to the subframe "leg" ? - I'd look at that as an addiitonal stabiliser rather than an "instead of" so if your car had the front stabiliser  then I'd keep it in situ....

Yes its as you describe.

It only has those two. No bottom one going forward.

If you haven't got the front one have a check for the bracket for it o/sf inside the "U" of the front spar of the subframe - if there's a bracket there then I'd put it back...... the more the merrier as far as earth straps and stabilser bars are concerned ....
