Looking like its set to be a good build up. I love a good engine build. Im the same id rather build an engine than work on the car. But its all part of the joy of your own build.
Thanks bud. Really looking forward to the build up myself too! Going to dismantle the gearbox next.
On another note... need to rename my thread!

Why so? You going bigger than 1330 now? Or you got a mini to go with it?!?
Haha I wish I had a mini for it but not yet, few more pennies to save.
No thought I should rename the thread as it’s not 1330 anymore. Discovered the block was actually 1380 but bores weren’t in good condition so sources a new block and will only be boring to 1293 to give me ‘options’ in the future... so perhaps my new topic title should be “1330 to 1380 to 1293” or “Mini Yo-Yo”!

Haha all part of the fun eh? 1293 is a good size for an engine build. Are you looking for a clean shell or a project build?
Definitely a clean shell/runner or as close as I can get. I don’t fancy doing lots of bodywork and I’d like to enjoy the car. Probably end up as a piecemeal restoration or upgrade project but with it running as often as possible. I want to hit the roads!
Will be checking on the machine shop tomorrow to see where they’re at with my bits. Hopefully I can get things back soon!
Also got distracted and bought a mountain bike as I’ve recently been borrowing bikes from friends and joining them at swinley forest to do the trails. Seems I’ve found another time consuming hobby!

Sadly no real update on this as I’ve had a few other housework projects to sort and keep my Mrs happy.
Had a call from CMES last week letting me know things are nearly there with the block and cylinder head machining and they’ve just got to do the dry build and final skim/etc to get the cr I’ve asked for.
I’ll be tackling the gearbox next but that might have to wait until I’ve got the garage cleared. I seem to have accumulated a load of rubbish over the summer!

Also went to Goodwood Revival last weekend so the inspiration was very strong with all the 60th mini celebrations.
Also a quick note: screw you photobucket. Now need a new photo hosting site....
Clearing the garage out this weekend to make space for the rebuild!!!

So in preparation I need to know what bolts people are using for mounting their block to an engine stand. I have a stand and have had the plate adapted to suite the alternator bracket and oil filter head holes. Just wondered if the standard bolts will be strong/long enough? Advice please?!
I will also be trying to sort out imgur this weekend for my future pics ? (thanks John for suggesting).

Just made an order for some gaskets, assembly lube and graphogen so I can start the rebuild soon! It’ll be a slow process as I save up for things as I go...
