No Brake Lights

So here is a brief rundown as to how I got into this predicament. 2006, I blew my gearbox, took the car off the road to repair it, got a secondhand gearbox, removed the motor, swapped the gearbox, car stood for 3 years, installed the motor, car stood for a year, started finishing off the details, and long story short, after running through all the electrics today, I found I don't have brake lights.
So here is what I do know, new bulbs, new switch(which is bridged at the moment) but still no brake lights. 12v at the switch, going through the switch, but nothing at the taillights themselves. Not sure where to start looking, I'm not aware of any breaks in the wires, or plugs anywhere from front to back.
Can anybody shed some light?

One of the newer Minis which is not really our remit on TMF,but the way to fault find it is the same. If you trace the colour out of the brake light switch its a case of following it back down the loom, checking on the wiring diagram if there is a multi-pin connector to check along the line. If you have feed on the wire at the front and none at the rear then follow the loom back checking as you go along with a tester.

Oops just reread it, simple test check for voltage down at the brake light switch, no voltage back track and check the fuses are clean and not blown. got voltage at the brake light switch but none out, either switch needs adjusting or is faulty, replace. Voltage in and out the switch the check the bullet connectors in the boot and onto the lights
