This one is an Italian Job, so probably using up the old carb engines in a small production run that would be easy to sell.

I have 2 engines, one from a 1993 IJ, the other a sprite, these engines used the HIF38 carb, the only difference is the cam iirc

And I think the cam differences are only down to the oil pump drive - star or slot.

Just thought I'd add another update. Got the engine running up to operating temperature and checked the mixture, using a colourtune. Needed adjustment to get nice blue colour after initial orange at idle. Then checked strobe timing. Found it was about 20 BTDC, so advanced it to 5 or 6 BTDC. Engine sounded much better, BUT now it will not idle. Engine speed comes down to 1000, then just dies, no matter what throttle input you give it. Also seeing a tendancy to spit back through the carb intake (air cleaner not currently fitted). About to repeat mixture check and timing check, but any other thoughts guys?
