Hello my name is Jake I have a 1993 1275 that I am restoring as a hobby I have added some extra lighting under my dash in white LEDs I'm looking to put some white led lighting strips under my door to show light on the floor when the door is opened my doors are still in its original condition with wind up windows but in order to fit these I will need to find a grommet/tunnel the go from my door post the my door in order to protect the cables I'm wondering if anyone has done this before as it would need to be done for centeral locking or electric window kits?

You can use a wiring protector from an old Peugeot 206 or a vw, basically it needs to be grommet shaped so hit doesn't spring out when the door opens

The rubber boot connectors above the tail gate of a Metro are perfect for this application and there are two them.

I covered the cables in a few long layers of heat shrink and used tight grommets on both sides. Not as neat as the boots but works well.

I’ve heard of someone who hid the wires in a door check strap from a Mk.1 or 2.

I've seen speaker wires done around door check straps, but they always seen to find their way to get caught, I always stagger the pillar and door holes 50mm and use grommets and a sheath for the wires.

Yes, meant to say staggering the height of the holes. Mine done 3 years now and no issues has speaker and central locking wire in them. I’ve suitably cable tied the bundle inside the door panel and the door frame for some strain relief too.

I've done it with short lengths of corrugated trunking. Holes drilled odd sizes with grommets fitted so the body end grips but the door end allows the the trunking to slide in and out.
