It's a 280 period cam based on the old factory 544 grind. It's minisports version of the 544.

Recently bought a metro engine but it’s had some work done so wanted to know what the cam is that I’ve pulled out of it. I’ve tried searching the number on the end in google and on here but no clear answers. Think it’s stamped with CA4 642.
Any info appreciated. Thanks!

Looking to build a fast road engine, I have a 1330 engine which came with a single Hiff44, will be doing some cylinder head work to get some better flow. Advice and opinions appreciated.

If Mr. Dodd recognises it as a near 544, bear in mind that that was the 1950's full race cam and needs to breathe well.
Boy-racers used to badger me to fit them in their 1300's, but with a 3.4 diff it was a pain it traffic and without a good head, would hardly come on song at a legal 70MPH, so now that the open road is limited to 60 you will have to drop to at least a 4.1 diff. ( but if you then stick it in 3rd gear on minor roads without speed cameras, it could be fun).

Is the Minisport CA4, one of the cams that benefited from such changes ?

I'm just thinking that it might be fun in a 970.
