Hello my name is Jake and I am currently doing a light restoration on a 1993 1275 ecu model when I had the car I wasn't getting no water temp and when you out your foot down on a motorway or long stretch the car would at first splutter like a cold carb then come to live and accelerate turns out the inlet manifold was blocked so I fixed that I have check all the wiring renewed the tester and tested it new thermostat and all seems ok going to the ecus plug engine runs fine starts no splutter nothing sweet as a nut but I am still not getting any water temperature I do have the nippion Japanese gauges 3 clock behind the dash I have got a spare Smith's 2 clock so I have tried plugging that in and it moved to about 1/4 of the way whilst the engine had been sitting for a while so I thought it may be a bad gauge or voltage stabizer so with the Smith's one plugged in I unplugged the water temp sensor from under the manifold and the gauge still stayed at 1/4?? So I'm wondering has anyone come across this problem before as I have tested the PCB and I'm getting continuity through the gauge and from the pins to the gauge? I have also check all cables coming from the ecu for breaks and all is fine?

so you have an SPi 1275, you need to check it the stat is there and check the temp sensors as the throttle body is set up on water temp and air temp

Just an up date I have found the problem my diagnostics plug arrived and I plugged it in and kept getting a water temp sensor faulty coming up and it was brand new tested it from a friend's one I noticed his one measured 3.5k and mine was 1.5k both cold turns out the supplier had supplied me with one from a metro and all is working fine through my tablet on the diagnostics app
