Best way to paint the underside of my mini? Is down to bare metal now. Have been told etch primer then bituminous paint, but also heard this isn't the best... Thoughts and experiences?

i sprayed on epoxy, seam sealed and then tintable raptor, the car hasn't seen the road yet but the finish is nice and seems fairly durable

I have used a primer, then Schutz coating, sprayed on, followed by grey primer and body colour.
However, I have just been speaking to a farmer friend and if you don't mind the underside being black, 'Tractor Paint' is said to be really excellent. I'm going to try this on the black 1990 Cooper I'm currently doing, although the underside won't be back to bare metal. The idea is that farmers, who are notoriously 'careful' with money, will only use a paint which is good.

+1 for the epoxy primer and as Cooperman has said for the tractor paint.
I have been using Tractol paint for years and its really good stuff. David Brown Orchid White is on the underside of my daily and several sets of steel wheels.

I wouldn't use the tractor enamel paint on the underside of the car, unless it's just the stuff I used, it tends to chip off (subframes). I used gravitex on mine and then painted body colour over the top.
Wheel arches is up to you, I think it tends to look better in body colour (as well as the sills) but being white might be a bit of a pain to keep clean.
