Rebuilding my gearbox and I have questions on what bearings to order.

Using a standard A+ 4 synchro gearbox for the 998. As far as I know this is the list of bearings I need to order. Please check that I have the right parts in mind. ive included minispares part numbers for what i plan to order

1 double roller bearing - AAU1365

1 single roller bearing - ADU7619

2 diff bearings - AHU1856 (these are for either side of the differential right?)

1 idler gear bearing -  TUK100320

1st gear needle roller - AAU1815

2 2nd/3rd gear needle roller - AAU1816

1 1st mortion layshaft roller - 13H9513

1 large layshaft needle roller - CHM141

MED also say to change the "spigot bearing" - https://www.med-engi...-spigot-bearing

Where does this go? I can't find this on minispares.

Think you need another 13h9513 for the small end of the layshaft plus 2 bearings for the idler, one in the box and one in the transfer case. The needle roller in the transfer case really needs a blind bearing puller. The spigot bearing outer race I have removed by warming the case with a hot air gun then slamming the case down bearing side 1st on a sheet of wood to knock the race out. I've also put it in the oven while the wife was at work, it smoked the house out! I only just got away with that one!
I think MED use rhp bearings too.

Some suppliers have Bearing Kits, though none I've looked at cover every bearing, but none the less can save some money, with just needing to add a few bearings on top of what's in the kit.

Beware though, that there are many sub-standard Bearings getting about, particularly in the needle rollers. Do a search on the forum, I've posted some photos.

You'll most likely find the needle rollers under 1st, 2nd and 3rd gears won't need replacing. I've only very rarely found these in need of doing.

Check the Layshaft (if replacing it) is proper hard where the bearings run. Many are soft and some only have the thinnest of hardening and so flakes off like an egg shell. Those from Swiftune I've found good, though I'm sure there are others.

Do not ever do that !

I used a bearing kit from Guessworks. If memory serves me correctly those were RHP bearings too.

These are all slang terms but some that are commonly used.

The Spigot Bearing is the one that fits on the Nose of the Main Shaft, that the Inboard end of the First Motion Shaft runs on.

Seen here;-

and runs on here

The Outrigger Bearing is the one that fits on the Outboard end of the First Motion Shaft and nestles inside the Transfer Housing (referred to in the above extract that I posted up ^)

This is the Inner part of the Outrigger Bearing

Moke, you really are wonderful, the way you can rustle up photos of all these Mini bits, and I do envy your ability to index parts on them.

AFAIK those are just 4 synchro rod change boxes, so yes. Do yourself a favour and check out Guessworks website, or contact the man himself.

Thanks a lot Moke! In which case I believe the list I have here is the full set of bearings I'll need to order?

1 double roller bearing - AAU1365

1 single roller bearing - ADU7619

2 diff bearings - AHU1856 (these are for either side of the differential right?)

1 idler gear bearing -  TUK100320

1st gear needle roller - AAU1815

2 2nd/3rd gear needle roller - AAU1816

1 1st motion layshaft roller - 13H9513

1 large layshaft needle roller - CHM141

PS the reason I'm not ordering a kit is because I already have the layshaft rollers. Been ordering stuff for my rebuild in bits to keep shipping and taxes low.
