After struggling to find much info on this topic, I’ve resorted to ask the question my self. (I’m not old enough to have a Mini yet but have been reading Vizards books a lot) Thanks in advance.

rather old skool and expensive. Put Shorrock into the search and you will find a few topics on them.

You are old enough to have a Mini

Maybe not old enough to drive one legally on the public road...

If you have somewhere to keep one you can have one...

I had several before I was 17 and today you can race Ministox from a young age [need to check regs]

Shorrocks blowers are pretty good at low boost

But have quite a few moving parts which wear and are difficult to have remade

Cheers for the answers guys. (Side note, my dad already has 3 Minis and their isn’t another garage to support a 4th!) Just another question, how much BHP could be made with the ‘charger?

The more common superchargers and readily available chargers are the Eaton m45 iirc.

Almost 60 years ago, I was given a second hand Shorrock by Allard.

It fitted above the engine in a Morris Minor and I drove it from a second pulley on the waterpump.

Without any other modification, it gave me an average estimated  25% increase in power over most of the rev range.

Over the years it got swapped onto at least 20 different A series engines of various sizes and always made the car more fun, and more pleasant to drive.

The biggest power increase that was actually tested on a rolling road, was a peak of almost 40% on a 997 cooper

Shorrocks wear out, fact of life.  I rebuilt mine many times, incorporating some modifications to wearing parts, and it was a very sad day last year when I reluctantly had to accept the it was finally worn out.

An Eaton supercharger from a bini is more efficient and by it's design is far less prone to wear.  I have bought one, but it is still in it's box.  I'll get around to fitting it some time, but for the moment, I'm still pining for my old Shorrock.
