Hi,
I’ve got a 2003 Seat Ibiza and admittedly it’s not used much, just for driving down the road to work as I’m lazy. I keep having a problem with the electric power steering not kicking in after I start it unless I rev the engine and boost the charge. And lately the battery seems to go flat pretty quickly, I’m guessing as it never gets a good run.
But most strangely, if you put the lights on when the engine isn’t running the dash lights flash on and off randomly! Also when I charge the battery with it still connected it makes the indicator lights light up and stay on...

Anyone have any ideas?

With the engine off and the lights on measure the voltage at the battery, could be a cell gone. Low voltage can cause electronics to do random things

The alternator doesn't kick in until the revs go above 1400rpm or so, my last one did it for several years.

Might be worn or something?  but I put near 50,000 miles on mine and it was still the same when I sold it.  I always assumed it was just the way they were.
