I have been thinking about how to wire up windows and doors to the car, and I would like it to be nice and clean.

Has anyone installed this baby into a classic mini? I know it might take some custom wiring, but is it doable? They are available very cheaply and they fit the aesthetic nicely.

Is there an aftermarket option that looks close to this?

Thank you for your help.

I looked at that style, you can buy the steel rings from somewhere, but they were hideously expensive, considering you need a few, so I didn't bother.  If you can find the panel from a crashed car or something they should be straightforward to wire up in theory, but you might want to get a couple of them so you can swap some of the switches out.  I suspect the windows switches are on-off-on momentary switches, so not much use.  The door lock (?) switch is probably momentary too.

Or they might all be momentary and connected to changeover relays as required, depending on how the switches are designed to work.

All the switches are momentary so you would have to make up an electronic board as in interface to the car

Well momentary works for me, at least for the window switches.

I might just replace all the switches though. I do like the style so maybe I can try and figure out how to meld them together.

A lot of people have thought that this switch panel would work in a classic mini, and it will providing that each switch has two relays and some latching versions or equivalent electronics. The problem is that in the Bini, the switches only have to send signals to the ECU then the ECU turns on/off the device. Consequently, the contacts in the switches are similar to those in your TV remote, just carbon blocks that will burn out as soon as you pass any amount of current through them.

If you are looking for something similar, try CBS. https://www.carbuild...lutions.com/uk/
