Hiya all, I'm in the final stages of a 1380 build and have now turned to thinking about my ignition system, for budgets sake I'm using a reconditioned 65DM4 dizzy i already had, and have gone out and bought a DLB105 coil. Although I've just been reading through some treads to see if there's anything i need to change in my wiring (previously running standard points) and i come across someone not recommending this combination, but then not been able to find a discussion to help clarify. Just wondered if someone could elaborate.

Setup thus far:

A+ 1275 overbored

Standard compression rings (But not tested actual compression)

Evo001 cam

Hif44 carb

Standard 12g940 head (for now)

Thank you for the reply, so when you say wrong coil, theoretically the coil would be okay for the system but its unreliable, and the MSC105 is manufactured to better that?

Lucas Sports Coil

O.E Electronic Ignition 89-on DLB198

This is the standard coil as used on the late Mini with factory electronic ignition. This was a Genuine Rover fitted part on 1275cc. GCL211 is the same equivalent as GCL143 but from Unipart. 1 ohmn
