Hello, can anybody please give me some advice regarding where I can get my tracking checked? I have a 1989 ( mini 30) and the tracking needs adjusting. All the places I have tried locally have said they can't do it as her it won't fit on the machines.
Any ideas where/how I could get this done. I am in the Bury area, Lance
Thanks

Is it just the front wheels, or all four ?

I think that any place that says they can't track the front of a Mini, have done you an honest favour, and shouldn't be in business.

Before the days of super lazer tracking, we used to do it with two piles of bricks to hold two broom handles front and back, with string stretched either side, and a ruler.

I still do my own with two straight pieces of 4 x 2 timber, some bricks, a steel ruler and a tape measure.

I set 1/16" toe out on the front and 1/16" to 1/8" toe-in on the rear. That is assuming the rear is made adjustable or you have a file and a MIG welder to set the rear when adjusted correctly.

The rear should have zero to -0.5 degrees negative camber for best road-holding and handling.

I use a Gunsons Trackrite - cured my funny tyre wear.

Anywhere with hawk eye laser alignment can do it - most kwik fit have them, but I chose to be with the car when they do it.

And please try to make sure that they use a centering pin in the rack. A lot of tyre fitters, for example, don't know about that.
