Sorry, in that case I can't help.

You are correct, some are single, but I don't think that they will run off a 13 amp fuse.

I know in our parts, there's many shops that will rent them for very reasonable rates.

I MIG-welded a roof panel on by plug welding. I drilled 5 mm dia holes avery 25 mm in the roof panel flange and welded a few at a time next to each other before moving to a different area.

With regard to grinding back, I used a new grinding disc and held the wheel vertical. After grinding, I got a pot of fibreglass liquid resin and hardener and used a small paint brush to 'paint' it onto the ground back flange. I didn't rub that back and it looked just like the original roll-welded process. After painting the roof it did/does look very original.

OK.

I'll go and see my friend tonight, I'm sure he'll lend it over a W/E.

It is heavy, and takes two to lift it out of the pick-up.

Sods law, the plug will be wrong, as his is 40 year old metal Lewden.

Sounds like the plug will be wrong for that size. You can buy a single phase spot welder in machine mart.

My friend's isn't one of those great heavy things that knacker your arms after 5 spots.

His is a big transformer and a maneuverable gun that you position, lock, trigger and the timer releases.

It even has a simple gauge that you center on the last spot, so that they all come out equidistant.

Eph you sea kay the EU.

I spoke to my friend last night, and he said that he would willingly have helped you this week end,    ...   but   ...   all his welders now have to be in a screened area, and so that they can not be moved and used outside that area, the must be hard wired.

Sadly, because his size of business has been brought under the more strict regulations, I can't help you.  I am very sorry.
