True, but on the plus side it won't become obsolete in 15 years time when Microsoft withdraws their support for Windows 10

 

 

Sorry for going a little off topic here.

 

While many see Microfiche as old and obsolete technology, it actually isn't.

 

It is still current and developing technology.

 

Banks and Insurance Companies for 2 industries still use it for long term storage of their records, to this day and not because the are stuck in the mud ! If stored and cared for properly they have a very long life, I can't recall what it is off hand, but I seem to recall of the order of 100 years and can be readily copied. Digital technologies don't yet come within a bull's roar of it and because it's constant development it's not likely to be ever adopted for this purpose. I think the records they store on them is a legal requirement.

Well. it was not in as good condition as i hoped. had to add some parts to it to get it to focus. need some black paper to add some black out inside and it will be sorted.

Looks all in good order to me

Is now. Would not focus at first. The slider base was not level. I had to make up a spacer to level it.

I am surprised that there is so much info re the commission numbers etc.....

Did you not consider scanning them Nick?

It was all computerized before Rover folded, wonder what happened to all that? I guess some is the basis for Minispares', Somerford's online catalogues.
