Hello Mini community

Now that Khan has been re-elected in London, my 1990 Mini will fall foul of ULEZ in October. Has anyone got an Independent Certificate of Emission approved by TfL and got exemption?

Or has anybody found a way to make a young classic ULEZ compliant (conversion to electric / other)? Thanks!

Did see this courtesy of another post on here...I've signed it...to lower the years to 30 from 40 for historic motors...would help some of us on ULEZ.

I recently wrote to the ULEZ office to ask why Classic Minis were charged. Their response will likely be that the Mini wasn't Euro 4 compliant. How could it be? The Mini didn't live to see Euro 4 standards implemented.

Upon further review, EURO 4 has the following requirements for Petrol vehicles:

CO - 1.0 g/km

THC- 0.1 g/km

NOx - 0.08 g/km

When you compare this to the emissions data published, it would appear that injection Minis (at minimum) meet these:

Wanted to check in with other Mini owners if there is appetite to challenge the TFL on this and seek an exemption for the classic Mini?

Yes - I will support on this issue.

It's got to be worth a try.

Well, this is gonna be fun!

So, apart from making my '98 MPi virtually unusable, this means that 2023 will, almost certainly, be the last L2B.

This years London to Brighton is starting from Cheam as Crystal Palace Park sadly no longer wants to support what they consider 'polluting' car events.

Cheam is in Surrey address-wise but is in the outer London Borough of Sutton, and the Cheam L2B start is right on the very border with the county of Surrey. Therefore they would only have to move the start a short distance in 2023 to continue, if a suitable site could be found just over the London/Surrey border. The other advantage is many of the traffic jams after leaving Crystal Palace Park will be avoided, which may be good news for any Minis which tend to overheat while stood in stationary or slow moving traffic....

Hi,

Did anyone make any progress with TFL...and obtaining a non conformity certificate

I'm hoping the legal challenge by conservative run councils is successful and GLUlez will die a death before being implemented
