What is the standard wheel PCD?

I am looking at fitting a set of D4 split rims to my build which are 100 x 4.

But wanted to make sure that these would match.

Also any advice/experience with the split rims.

Thanks

100 mm is NOT 4". Wheels with 4 x 100 mm PCD dia will not fit a hub with a 4" PCD.

Wheel studs being a very high grade tensile, don't like to be bent. Not even a little bit. They crack and break when they are.

Back in the 1970's I had a good friend who had a business supplying and fitting superchargers. I went to see  him for lunch one day and he had a new Mk.3 Cortina 2000GT which was the same car as I then drove. I noticed that he had wider wheels than my standard 5" ones and remarked on it. He said that they were 5.5J x 13 Lotus-Cortina Mk.2 rims. He said that they were OK but no-one could seem to get them to balance properly.

I said that I was not surprised because the Lotus-Cortina had a 4" PCD whilst with the Mk.3 Cortina, Ford had 'gone metric' and the PCD was 100 mm. He soon reverted to the original 'Tinilite' wheels (steel wheels that looked like Minilites).

Ok thanks all for the advice, so unless they are 4 x 4" then it's a no go. All good info to know before I purchase.

Are there split rims out there similar to the ones I have been looking at which will be this pcd?

Is there any down falls to the split rims in general?

Close but not quite right all Ford's went to 108 pcd at the 105e Anglia time the ealier 100e had a different and slightly larger pcd even today Ford's tend to use 108 pcd but mainly in a 5 stud pattern, you can fit lotus cortina wheels to escorts no problem, in fact original lotus steels are highly prized by the retro Ford guys the same as Cooper S steels are by us

Shooter

Ps
I have a set of lotus cortina steels on my kit car and that has a mk2 escort rear axle in it

Looks like D4's are available from Specialist Components. What size are they, are you sure they're 100PCD?

Force Racing is another split rim porn site. They also do conversion drive flanges that'll bump up the fitted price of any "must have" wheels with the wrong PCD. Getting a sensible wheel offset could be harder.

As they're assembled from separate bits, you have an extra joint to potentially leak air.

When I first asked them they had said it was 100x4. When i explained for classic Mini hey are now saying they are the correct size for a classic Mini at 4"x4....

So hopefully this clears this up, unless there is another way to check as they had given me two different sizes....

An old 4x100mm wheel can usually fit onto a 4x4inch studded hub with a bit of persuasion, but then after a few 100 miles the studs will eventually snap off ;D

Information is direct from the manufacturer via email.

Yeah was just a little cautious to fit a ocd which is the incorrect size as you have said can result in failure.
