Hi Gang, I thought i would say a quick hello. my first car at the age of 18 back in 1984 was a 1978 Russet Brown 1275GT reg number FCW 985S which I paid £750 for. I can even remember how much it was for insurance, it was £154 for third party fire and theft. I had the car for four years and then sold it to my brother, I bought an MGB roadster in 1988 and after a few years of using this as a daily driver I got married and I required a 4 seater car, my brother gave me back the mini. 12 months later the mini was misbehaving with a pot down so I traded the mini in for a Lada Riva, its still a sore point.. :shy: . I put the MGB in hibernation for a few years whilst the family grew up and I now have the old MG back on the road, my only regret is that I wish I had put the 1275GT in storage instead of the MG, hindsight is a wonderful thing!

So why am I here, well I am mulling over whether to dip my toes back into the classic mini world, I am hoping to pick up a few tips and pointers, especially for the Mini Rover coopers :D

You traded your 1275GT for a Lada Riva....really! And you are prepared to admit it on here - fair play!

Mine is a similar story - I started with a 1972 1275GT (FOP 662L). 1 year old and v low mileage, did 70k miles in it and passed it down to my brother. It was my first decent car. I’m now retired and I’ve got a 1975 1275GT, fully restored - it makes me smile even to look at it.

Don’t mull for too long!

Hahaha, yes the Lada story still sticks in my throat.. :shy:  I will have to put my old MG up for sale, to make room for a  Rover Cooper .  I would love another 1275GT but unfortunately anything in good condition is incredibly expensive..  :ohno:
