Hi all - probably a similar process for a car, I have two older bikes that are ready to go, however are SORN, Mot expired and not insured. They are fully road worthy and I regularly eat my dinner off both ;-)

Assume I need to 1. insure it, 2. book an mot and ride it there, and 3. if number 2 all ok tax it...?

Yes, I believe you are ok driving/riding to a test centre if you have a booked MOT.

Your insurance will cover a non-taxed vehicle to an MOT station as long as its prebooked.
This was a recent head scratcher for me and the mini too!

Yes as above, insurance and a pre-booked test is what you need.

Technically there's no limit on how far you can travel between home and the test centre either.

I'm imagining people travelling around the UK in bangers, making different MOT appointments as they go

You have to (if you are doing so) take the most direct route (I'd argue the toss about traffic) but people I know have been doing it for years!

Cheers all, MOT booked at usual place about 3 miles away. Guess I can tax it online after a successful MOT pass.
