I used to work for Flux, sometimes it depends on the luck of who you get put through to... theres all different departments which can all quote the same cars/bikes but have different schemes depending on their department... for example i worked on the motorbike department but would also quote quads/buggys.. my quote would probably be more expensive than if the customer was put through to the specialist vehicle department...

on a side note i managed to get my 84 city e insured for £86 including breakdown with bewiser.

no idea if they are good or bad but its £86 and im road legal and someone might turn up for free if i stop at the side of the road

It makes me laugh each year I hunt around for policy quotes and out of curiosity try many who advertise in the mini press.. many of the quotes are a joke for a 2nd car on limited milage, and I usually end up back with flux.many insurers seem to struggle with an mpi registered early 2000.
I have just gone through admiral for a Vw up for my daughter on a provisional license it was so much easier than mini insurance less questions etc, she has had a license for 3 months, I have been driving for 40 years with a clean record and it's painful how long you spend on the phone.
I would seriously recommend agreed value for a few extra quid, having been to a recent talk by hiscocks it makes so much sense, they also do a restoration policy... not yet rolled out to minis where if say a vechicle was badly damaged/destroyed you get paid the value your time and costs of parts etc committed to the project, so over and above any market value.

I received my renewal with Adrian Flux (Trinity Lane Insurance) yesterday and the cost was £167 the same as last year, I tried Footman James who came in at £228 so tried Go Compare, Performance direct came in at £88 including agreed value, the next best quote was Flux direct at £105. After contacting Adrian Flux they have matched Performance Direct.

I have been with Flux for 3 years and have had one £3,000 insurance claim with them and have always found them OK.

At the time of my earlier post my Mini had been with Ben having some work carried out so I was unable to get the agreed valuation carried out.

When I got the Mini back and after taking current photos I sent my Agreed valuation request to Adrian Flux thinking that as in previous years that it would cost £15, I have just had a request to debit my account for £38.05.

This is broken down into £15 agreed valuation fee, £16.96 additional premium, £2.03 IPT, £4.06 arrangement fee.

The additional fees were never mentioned when I renewed the insurance and there is no way that I will be paying them.

Just moved to flux after year with rh specialist, cheap at £95 however flux breakdown are very poor we were waiting for three hours when advised 90 mins response time with no phone call from flux to keep us informed.

When we had a breakdown with rh they kept us informed and called to check that we'd been picked up.

Hagerty for me next year or back to rh.

I was with Footman James for around 10 years and after around 5 years I added my wife as a named driver which didn't cost anything. Then at one renewal my price came through and was ok but I needed to tell them my wife (2nd driver) had had a bump in her main car (a deer ran in front of her and she hit it).

They then said that they would no longer insure us (it was her only accident and she was 29), I said thats fine as she didn't drive any of my cars and was only on just in case so can they remove her which they did and the price went up significantly.

They then were unable to offer me the original price for the cover with my wife removed from the policy.  After being passed around departments they couldn't understand why this was but it was "computer says no" moment.

I haven't used them since.

I switched to Hagerty a couple of years ago. They said my 1964 'S' was seriously undervalued and increased it considerably.

Then I wanted to insure my best friend who was coming here from the USA to drive it with me in a 'touring' event. Flux could never cover him because he lives in Arizona, has a US driving licence and does not reside in the UK. With Hagerty it was absolutely no problem, especially as he has his Sunbeam Tiger insured with Hagerty in the USA. The also covered me to drive the Tiger when it was brought over here for some events a few years ago.

Its always worth shopping around and politely talking to your current insurer.  The last 5 years its worked out for me to stay with Adrian Flux, got good agreed agues etc...  No increase of costs when I converted to Cooper S Works.

The telling point would be their support if I ever had to claim!!!
