Hi,
I’m just wondering if upgrading the engine to a more reliable micra engine would prevent my car from having classic insurance?

It’s not something that I’m planning on doing right away but it’s a thought for a few years time.
I don’t want a v-tech or anything but more for the reliability.

I’ve had a quick look online but when I type it in google, it generally tells me about how old it needs to be for classic insurance or goes off topic about tax exempt cars.

Also as a caviat, would a micra engine be reccomended or are there better engines that don’t recruiters ‘too’ much modifying to fit.

Thanks,
Adge.

Will still be insurable under a modified classic policy.

My personal opinion is a engine conversion for another 1.3l engine seems alot of effort, unless you turbo one also?

Right, thanks.
Well mine is just a 998. But like I said, I don’t really want performance upgrades. I just like the idea of not panicking every time I hear the slightest noise.
I mean, it’s ran like a little trooper and not had any major problems but it was just a thought.

A good A series is very reliable. I only really ever had problems with the ignition, due to poor quality points and condensers. Magajolt would fix this issue. Other than that I rebuilt the carb, which was my own fault for not fitting a fuel filter. :shades:
