Hi All

just a silly question it's ecu do volt regulation or it's

alternator build in one.

My alternator is overcharging battery badly

The alternators diode pack has probably gone pear shaped.

Enter 'alternator testing' in the search box at the top of the page & you'll probably find a thread on how to check this.

I think the question your asking is does the alternator regulate the voltage or is it done by the ECU like in some other modern cars.

The voltage regulator is built into the standard mini alternator but as yours was changed before you need to check that the correct one was fitted.

It seems you might have the wrong alternator, is yours an spi mini?
