I've already read the posts but I am still confused about which ones to use i think i have it figured out:

1989 Mini 4 glass blade fuse box:

Top Glass: 35A Blade: 15A

Second Glass: 25A Blade: 10A

Third Glass: 25A Blade: 10A

Bottom Glass: 15A Blade: 5A

From what i can figure out you divide in half and then round down. Please let me know if i'm going wrong somewhere :)

I'd say the only change to that is a slightly higher amperage on the top and bottom fuse, so 20 amp Blade fuse and 10 amp Blade fuse in the bottom fuse.

By the way Halfords do a glass fuse kit with multiple ratings.

I've never had to take mine off to clean it, I do flake all the corrosion off then smear it lightly in grease.

I don't have the sound deadening foam behind the fuse box

If you're gonna switch to blades might i suggest you do it properly and rewire your car so that every circuit has it's own fuse instead? It's not how minis were ever wired from the factory, but It will be far safer and easier in the future.
