Head skim seems to have done the trick. Now I have to deal with the oil coming out of the dipstick hole. Not looking good.

Bungees down the dipstick which has stopped the oil leak.

Toyed with the idea of installing a cooper 997 but a friend of a friend is now selling that engine on at IMM. The 850 is delightfully smooth running (for an old a series) and I've had s few lovely runs over the Welsh mountains again this week and the 850 went so well even in the recent Summer heat. No water loss and pulling better than ever.

So the 850 stays and I'll be looking for efficiencies in the chassis, next on the list is an aluminium undertray for the rear to improve airflow.

Could always think about an 1100 conversion fitted inside that tiny 850 block, that's much more fun!

Hmm, I think we've met before!!

I seem to recall a Silver mini with an 850 lump stranded on the car park at the last Pride and Joy event!!!

I'm the guy on the gate who had the silver MK3 Golf cabby and the rough looking blue Spi!!

Yes that was me! Only had to wait three hours for the breakdown truck. Adrian Flux rescue are #### !

Thanks for your advice was spot on. I should be at the next pride & joy either in the mini or the MR2 (more reliable that one)
