My GTM Rossa kit car is fitted with a MG Metro Mk1 engine and manual gearbox and for a number of reasons, I am considering a change to an automatic box; therefore, am I able to bolt up an automatic assembly to my existing block or is there a specific block to match the automatic set up?

Thanks for any advice in advance

For what you are wanting to do, you'll need an Auto Engine and Gearbox.

The blocks, while for the most part, are similar, they are machined quite differently.

If the GTM uses a Mini Subframe, you'll also need an Auto Subframe as there are wider between the engine mounts.

Only if I had an automatic 1275 set up with a similar spec to mine!

To be fair of you were wanting to go down the auto route you can pick up send hand engines very cheaply compared to manuals
