Thanks everyone looks like it’s a bad idea, I’ll maybe fit some wheel spacers instead, what’s the safest way of doing this will I need longer studs ?

There is a lot of scaremongering going on here... Spacers are not dangerous in the slightest as long as you fit the correct length studs to go with them, and don't go too wide with them. I've been running 10mm spacers for about 10 years now and had zero issues. I'm not denying that they won't help with handling, but unless you're building a track car, you probably won't notice the difference. If you want spacers, then go for it.

What size wheels where you running 10mm on ?
This is for 13” Sportspack wheels.

Band an alloy wheel? -probably not an economic option.
It's easy enough to buy 13x7 inch Sports Pack lookalike alloys but try driving a MPI with them fitted before going to the expense of buying a set for yourself.
Maybe you will like constantly changing knackered wheel bearings, the heavier steering, & the increased level of tram-lining (& that's on a car with fully adjustable suspension, let alone a standard set-up).

Got to agree. I had 13x7”s on when I bought our car. IT WAS HEAVY steering at low speeds and tramlines a lot but they looked great. I had a chance to buy back the original sportpack 13x6” wheels and they were a lot better but not as good as driving 12 or 10” wheels. Seem to have been lucky with the wheel bearings, I’ve only changed one front set in the 4 years I’ve owned her and the old set were a cheap generic, all the rest proper timkin. The wee car does about 3000 to 4000 most years.
