just a sanity check before it's too late .. do the tags (anti slip ?) on the mains and big ends go next to each other on the caps or on opposite sides? thanks

they can only go the way that they fit.

 

and the caps are not mixable.

Usually next to each other or on the same side.

not really getting your question.

not worded very well. Once they are in the cap the cap can fit either way (on the correct rod) so that the tags are the same side as each other, or opposing sides

good, thought so. As a matter of interest what would be the outcome of getting this wrong?  

 

N.B. not asking 'for a friend' I haven't bolted anything down yet !  :lol:

N.B. not asking 'for a friend' I haven't bolted anything down yet !  :lol:

 

 

The bore through all these caps is done with the caps and rods or caps and block bolted together and therefore are unique to each other. If they get mixed or fitted wrong way around, usually the crank will lock solid. Bearing Clearances are only of the order of 0.001 to 0.0027". The bores through the rods / block, are not necessarily centred between the bolts / dowels.

all torqued up now and the crank turning nicely with the pistons installed so all good, thanks!
