My paint on the flat part of the bulkhead keeps bubbling up due to the heat from the exhaust, I don't want to wrap the exhaust as this can cause problems of its own so was thinking about using some of the below. Has anybody used it, does it reduce the heat? Any other recommendations or ideas?

You could make a heat shield out of mild steel or similar to go between the manifold and the bulkhead to stop the directly radiated heat.

I've not used this exact product but I have used heat shield in this location & yes, it did help. Have you looked at the gold version? Worth a few extra BHP for looks!

Interesting fact, Zircotec ceramic coating was invented to control heat in the nuclear energy sector. Then someone worked out that the same process had applications in motorsport & now their ceramic coating are OE to a number of high end supercar companies such as Pagani and McLaren.

I've used a lot of Zircotec products and have no problems recommending them. Shop around though as better prices can be found.

That said, I've never had paint in this area bubble up due to heat alone. Before you apply a big sticker, which this is, over the problem are you 100% sure there is no rust or moisture behind the paint?

The old 'works' rally cars had a rectangular sheet of, whisper it, 3/16" thick asbestos bolted to the bulkhead behind the exhaust manifold.

In fact, I fitted a sheet of 3/16" thick asbestos to my Cooper 'S' rally car when I restored it in 1994 - '5. I was very. very careful when I cut and drilled it and wore a paint spraying mask.

It works well and I don't see why you couldn't do the same so long as you are extremely careful doing so.

I did think of doing something like this, just a case of where to mount it.

Cheers, I think I'll get some then, I did look at getting gold... :gimme:

Definitely the heat unfortunately, It has got gravitex there which may not like the heat? Although it may not happen as I've had the car tuned and had a lean needle in which could have made it run hot.

I use a stick on heatshield on my bulkhead below the gold foil (turbo makes tons of heat) all good so far!
