Hi everyone,

I've lurked here on and off over the years but now we've gone and bought a Mini!

I say bought, more like acquired. My youngest won the car (a 1997 MPi Cooper) in a raffle at our local car museum and after driving it for 3 months in Bristol realised that the Cul-de sac in which he lived was no place for a Mini. Needing to get some pretty horiffic damp issues sorted in the back wall of his Victorian terraced house, the wife decided that in exchange for the car, we would help out with the damp course. Strange how that happens eh?!

Needless to say she absolutely loves the car and continually buys it little gifts, that of course I get to fit!

The car lives in the workshop over the winter and is kept garaged the rest of the time so I hopeful of maintaining the car in its current excellent condition for the foreseable future.

For my part, I am a semi-retired, one time aircraft maintenance engineer, currently working for 3 days a week in aerospace research. I have a couple of other old cars, a 1973 Triumph GT6 and a 1936 Morris 8, and whilst relatively new to full time Mini-care, I have worked on many over the years.

I'm currently getting it ready for a trip around the Outer Hebrides and will be looking for a couple of pointers in the technical forum soon!

We do take the car to local shows so hope to meet up with some of you from here over the summer.

Thanks for having us.

Richard and Heather.

Ha ha, yes, Heather is the wife.

The Mini is (unimaginively) called Minnie!
