Hello all. I have a pickup with mg metro engine.
At the end of the year it's going to Paul at minicraft in Kent for a new front end and a respray. I visited 3 different body shops and settled with him as he only works on minis, does 1 in 1 out and seemed reasonably priced. Anyone have any feedback about paul's work?
While it's the engine is out I am looking at either a rebore to sports tourer spec at swiftune which is down the road or at specialist components. Swiftune we all know are pretty awesome but not cheap. SC I can't really find much feedback on. I am considering a 7 port if the funds can stretch. I have heard some casts have porosity issues. Their billet head is really pricey though. I am not sure whether to stick to what I know or go for it. Anyone guide me please
Cheers

As far as the engine goes - what do you want/what’s it being used for?

The odd track day. But mainly road. And I will be going to some local shows. My dad is getting on and he has a midget he takes to shows so want to spend some quality time with him.
I would be miffed though if I got the swif tune and had 20hp and torques more than I have now and found it still to be a bit on the sluggish side

If you have deep enough pockets I'm sure swiftune will sort it

Choose the gear ratios carefully too.  Makes  a big difference to the character of the vehicle.

I am seriously considering supercharging. I love the torque profile. The vmax seems.OK. again the specialist components rotrex conversion shows very impressive gains but only really on the mpi rather than carb. Again. Where are the reviews from specialist components customers
Currently I think the mg metro box is a 3.2 it seems pretty good . 4th is slightly tall but some it seems to be a happy medium.

3.2 will be fine if it's supercharged.

Depends on your budget. VMAX is quite popular, however it is a suck through system.
3.2 final drive would be my absolute limit, 2.9 suits them well, and even the MPi 2.76!

Specialist components rotrex supercharger looks quite interesting and compact.

worth noting that the rotrex unit is a centrifugal supercharger (effectively it's a mechanically driven turbo), so available boost will be related to engine speed, whereas the positive displacement superchargers like the eaton types should in theory provide the same boost at all engine speeds

I am leaning toward the sc rotrex but there is precious little comments on what they are like as suppliers. I would probably do it in 2 stages though. Efi my engine and head this year and then add the supercharger next year
I now think the 7 port is not enough bang for buck compared to a sorted 5 port

I don't think so otherwise the BOV will be open on anything over tick over
