Ok tired now with the Alfa romeo leather seats, just too much of a tight sqeeze and accessability to rear restricted, so managed to get a pair of mint Honda Prelude seats for £50 from e-bay....an absolute bargain, could not believe my luck particuarly when the lovely person who sold them to me Gave me Free the complete rear ones as well  !! unbeleably generous....however have absolutely no idea how to fit he rear set, or in fact if they will even fit? has anyone here an idea of how to set about looking at fitting rear seats ? and is it actually worth it?

Cheers, One very happy bunny....

You may just end up recovering your old rear seat with material harvested from the preludes. Fitting the new seats back there would be a challenge i think. Depending on the year of the prelude they may be split folding seats. Not great to fit into a mini but easy enough to sew a seem in the material and make one big cover.

No way am I gonna cut em up just to recover the old seats as that relly seems pointless. They are much too nice looking and comfortable to destroy, If I did that I may as well advertise them for sale when I get round to selling the Alfa Romeo seats.

There must be a simplier way, and no they aren't the older split style seats, maybe I could carefully reduce the width of them? mmmmm get the O/L to re-stich em?

So you've bought a couple of front seats for a bargain and the seller throws in a rear seat, now you're trying to shove a gallon into a pint pot just because you think the new rear seat's too good to butcher. Instead of doing a bodge job why not heed the advice above and utilise the fabric from the free rear seat and have your existing back seat professionally re-covered to match your new front seats. Or n the other hand, just bodge it.

My O/L is a professional seamstress, hope she doesn't read your comments, ha ha, on the other hand, I do see your point, and upon reflection and  if you have ever seen the rear seats of a honda Prelude, I am thinking that perhaps a rethink is in order. They just ain't gonna fit, so going to sell em along with the Alphas and just put a hold on the rears until something else comes along, thanks for your input and advice tho......

You should get her to read my post. If you manage to fit the prelude front seats and they work out it makes a load of sense for her to strip the fabric from the prelude rear seat and use it to re-cover your existing Mini back and base. Does she have access to the equipment needed to do it though? Seat coverings are heavy materials that are worked with upholstery grade sewing machines.

the front seats fit easily into the car with very little to do to make a suitable subframe, they are actually recommended in the section here  entitled car seats that fit into a mini........The rears however are on hold at the present, mainly as I want to make the correct decision as regards to their future, but also I am gonna have to sweet talk my wife into a little input. I am going to take out the companion bins and do a little fettling, but they should fit in with a little pursuasion, and re-trimming.

Prelude seats fit no bother in the front and back, the seat base apparently fits with no trimming and you only need to take the metal back off the back rest and trim about 4” off the foam then tie up the excess fabric you are left with

Pictures in this thread on page 2. So I wouldn’t bother trying to salvage the fabric to recover your mini seats, easier to fit the prelude ones
