Ive done a fair bit of reading, but apologies in advance if these have been asked already.

The car is a 1994 sprite, with a HIF38.

Plan is to go for a fusion fabs setup.

Questions around fuelling and Turbo Oil and Drain.

For fuelling, If I was to fit the fuel pump further forward, I then need to add in a fuel return.  Would Tee'ing into the fuel line towardds the rear of the pump be acceptible? or is there a generally better route to run a return back to the tank?

Oil, Feed and Drain... Im going to add an oil cooler, and with that an oil pressure gauge.  Is having a tee off at the filter head ok for a feed round the block to the turbo?

Then for the drain, a lot seem to drain back to the point where the mechanical fuel pump would be located on the block?  Is that just a case of drilling it out and adding yoke to clamp the hose onto?

I know im going to have to purchase a HIF44 and either mod it, or buy one for a metro turbo, but for now Im just picking up parts as I go along.

Thanks for the help!

Bob

People have done the fuel return as you suggest, an injection Mini tank would be a tidier solution. An external pump would be best mounted to bleed back air on the feed side.

I don't see why you couldn't take your oil tap from there, but off the oil pressure sensor tapping as per the Metty Turbo is simple, tried and tested. The same goes for the oil return, you should be able to just bolt something on in place of the mech pump.

Can't think of a reason why you couldn't mod a 38, but a 44 is again a tried and tested route - particularly for sourcing a plenum &  flow restrictor.

Oil return is into the mechanical fuel pump on the back of the block. There is where it returned on the metro. You can by the plate with a hose fitting on from smiffys bits or DSN. Or make your own.

The fuel pump return can be T'd into the low pressure side of the feed which is fine.

My oil feed is taken from the oil pressure take off. I've added a T piece and run oil feed and pressure gauge from there.

As mentioned injection (MPI as its got a higher pressure pump) would be best. if you run a standard tank with external pump really you need to enlarge to tank outlet to at least 8mm. the injection tank makes the boot sooo much neater!

Yes you can tee off the filer head  ( after the filter not at the pipe from the block to fiter head) but most people add a tee peice into the oil oressure gauge hole as this feeds straight from the main gallery, I had a 3 way tee on mine feeding the turbo, a gauge and an oil light switch.

Yep, just drain into the oil pump hole, either suing the std adaptor or whatever you can put together, just maksure there is no loops/ low points where oil can sit so the oil backs up into the turbo, it needs to drain straight out! also you want a fluro lined hose  (normally a red or black inner lining) as standard silicon hoses can weep oil.

Unless you're racing the engine, I wouldn't bother with an oil cooler.
