Swaged Strip And Rollcage Gussets

So has anyone lightened or just for the look welded these in place punched and sr punched and swaged steel plate the kind that they use for rollcage gussets maybe to the inner cills the inside of the b post maybe top dash rail ect any pics as reference

These type of thing i mean would it be ok to cut the hole from the inner cill the length and width of these and weld these into that hole to give that race look from what i have read the panel is as stiff if not more so than a flat panel
And being you an get these in 10_75 mm dia you could maybe use them other places around the shell without weakening ?

From an engineering point of view, you should have closely staggered rows of holes, swaged from both sides.

 

 

I'd get someone artistic to paint your holes on 'sticky-backed plastic'.

you will not find many race cars with that on them as it is against the rules. it is only used where you are adding strength that allows holes to be put.

 

would i put it in my inner sills? nope as it will be draughty and wet.

It’s better to keep the oil leaks on the underside.

I dont know about motorsport rules but i have pics of what your talking about and a few of the areas you have mentioned so yes there are peoplewdoing what you ask in fact its a build on here and everyone was complimenting the fabrication work i will email you the pics as i cant seem to uplnad pics here atm

I dont know the name on the project but i downloaded the pics as a referenc
And just to be clear ime not saying to do it or not just that there are some about with that type of mod

Think its to do with the swage the radiused/shouldered hole is stiffer
