Hello All

I have a Mk 2 998 Cooper registered new in NZ in 1970

It has had a replacement motor, I do not know when it was replaced.

My question is how can I identify if it has the correct engine block for its year?

The replacement motor No 99H791P- original motor No 99H377CH

Do engines with electric fuel pumps have the mechanical pump blocked off with a plate or is the mechanical pump mounting unmachined, ie no opening in the block.

Are there other casting marks on the block that will indicate the approximate age?

Same question for the gearbox, it is a remote change 2G1128.

Any help appreciated

Thanks

Mike

done have any info on the 377 number.

gearbox

22G1338 Casing Number 22G1128 - All 4 stnchro with remote

Thanks Nicklouse

Engine no for the replacement motor is 44455

The 377 number of the original motor fits in with info in Parnell book on the cooper, indicating a build after March 1969

The original engine number of 4826 indicate a build date of prior to November 1969.

Not sure what you mean by gearbox 22G1338? Can you please clarify thanks.

What I am trying to find out are there any identifying marks on a block to indicate year of manufacture.

Thanks for any help

Mike
