Reading old threads on here and elsewhere it seems Megajolt hasn't always been favoured by some rolling road operators carrying out ignition mapping. A lot of this information is years old now so is this still the case nowadays as Megajolt still seems to be very popular.
Megajolt Mapping - Who Does It?

I got a standard map for my 1098 that I downloaded and it runs like a dream

Maybe but it won't be optimum.

How much more can it be optimised do you think? Genuinely interested to know

Maybe only a little, maybe a lot. You don't know unless you measure it.

Why wouldn't any roller jockey be able to accommodate you? I could understand them not having the hardware, but if you turned up with your own laptop telling you how much advance to add or subtract would be as easy as thinking it & easier than tweaking a dizzy.

I agree Ethel. I'm just looking into this at the moment and thought I'd raise this as according to what I've read, there were those who for whatever reason wouldn't touch Megajolt systems. Some have said that it's possibly due to badly fitted systems and some have said it's due to software issues and whether the operator is willing to work with it.
Maybe this is an issue from ten or more years ago which isn't a problem now, I just wanted to check. I like the look of the Megajolt, I like the concept and of course the price is lower than many other systems but I didn't want to blindly go ahead and then find people say "I'm not touching that mate". It shouldn't matter really as rolling road time is normally hourly so if it takes longer it's no skin off their nose.

I'm talking road use here so definately want either a TPS or MAP sensor, quite a normal thing for an electronic ignition system to have.
It was the following which made me wonder if there was a problem:

...but after reading further I think it is as I suspected, a problem from ten years ago and not much of a problem now.

its not so much they dont like the systems, its more like home wired/installed systems, turning up with faults etc... A tuner wants you to come, put it on their rollers and it work, so if it dosnt, it maybe a £150 job and a headache instead of a £300-400 job for them. Someone paying the £300-400 will have top car, and will just pay it. There is lots of these people waiting.

Yeah that makes sense. If it's installed properly and works as it should then it shouldn't be a problem for someone to map it.

AC Dodds would be my 1st choice for tuning Megajolt equipped Minis. Check ML Motorsport's Facebook page... looks like they have a "Tuning with ACDodd" event on July 20th.

Bit of a long way but I know a place near Hampton Court who set up my s/c build engine with a mega jolt, then again when I went to Emerald with Fuel injection on his rollers.

i agree, although Ive never used him, he obviously knows his onions,
with mapped systems, I think a lot of places just tune the full power curve, idle and just take a rough stab at an advance for cruise, and dont optimize anywhere as near as they could,
