I’m new to the forum and am restoring a classic mini (the first car I have ever tried to restore). Forgive me if these are basic questions...

I am midway stripping down and rebuilding the front subframe. I am at the beginning of the rebuild and am fitting HiLo’s. The trumpets I removed sat in nylon cups in the top arm. I replaced the nylon cups only to discover that the new knuckle joints don’t fit into nylon cups. I assume the knuckle joints go straight into the top arms without the nylon cups? If so, should I grease the knuckle joint/top arm or should the knuckle joint sit in the top arm “dry”? If I should grease it, should I use any particular grease?

Thanks for any help/advice anyone can provide.

New ones should come with the nylon cup. They are sealed. The rubber boot sits over the nylon cup keeping the grease in the joint.

What brand did you buy or where from.?

The knuckles do go into nylon cups.  Not sure why yours don't.

That’s fantastic - thank you. Due to the rubber boot sitting over the top of the cup I didn’t realise it was the cup. Really appreciate your help and the super fast response. Thanks.
