12" diameter tyres are very limited now .. think the widest are 165 which would mean stretching to fit 6" rims ..

Would 12x5 or 5.5 make any difference.

12x5 will ride better and will feel altogether lighter to drive.

Why would a 165 be stretched on a 6 inch rim, the tyre tread is only 12mm wider then the rim. Many people put 10 inch 165s onto 5 and 6 inch rims without problems.

A 165 tyre fits a 12x 6 inch rim perfectly fine, I know because I have 3 sets of them

I run 26 psi front and 28 or 30 rear.

The car handles well considering it is standard

I run 165/60 on 12 X 5 and have the standard Rover Special arches.

You can use 165/60-12`s on the standard factory minilight style 4.5" alloys and the car will corner on rails.

It`s all the Mighty Minis are allowed and all you need on a road car, the 13`s look great but it`s style over function and despite what owners might think, they are not nice cars to drive compared to 10 and 12" wheeled cars.

Yes I have owned a couple of sports packs.

Personally I think that 12 x 5" wheels with Yoko 165/60-12 tyres are probably the best for handling on a road car, it`s just the right amount of tyre flex and anything wider you start to get clearance issues on non sports pack wings and bump induced steering that will become apparent if you drive the car in a spirited manner..
