So after our family mini failing its MOT 5 years ago due to the dreaded rust disease  , 2 children being born and me telling myself numerous times I would get her back on the road I have finally decided to give it a go.

This is not only my wife's first car but her first mini too so it has lots of sentimental value.  She used it as a daily driver up until the MOT failure.

I have owned an MPI mini when I was younger and did lots to it except any body work.  This is where I will most likely need help from you lovely people please!  :shy:

I pushed the mini on to the drive last summer and have just got the garage to a place where I feel comfortable taking this project on.  I will be finally pushing back it in to the garage on Wednesday night for the big reveal and to start work.  I cant wait!!   :xmas:

My plan is to do as much work in the evenings and weekends but it may be slow going due to family commitments.

I honestly have no timescale planned but my intention is to get the car back on the road and driving.  I guess I will have to wait and see what I find over the coming weeks.

I am a complete novice so if anyone see's me doing anything daft or has any advice they can give I would very much appreciate it.

Or at least change it for something useful like a beer fridge!

I'm sure it won't be this tidy for long. I felt I had to get super organised before I started. Still plan to push the car in to the garage tomorrow night so will post images of what I find.

I hope your shell is better than mine!! The typical condition of many MPI's is well documented by various projects on here.

Good luck. I'll be following to watch the reveal.

That's what I'm worried about. ? When we took it off the road 5 years ago it needed a scuttle panel, a panel, wings and front end. That's just what I could see though. The dash showed water damage so not sure what I'll find. Oh clutch was slipping too. ? Still excited to get going though. ?

So I spent an hour getting the mini in the garage last night.  Absolutely throwing it down but that didnt stop me.  Sorry if there are to many images below.  Bit new to all of this.

There's a small ramp to get up into the garage and could I move the car?  Could I hell.  No one was available to help me so I had to get inventive.  Tell me what you think below.

Front end is as bad as I remember.  Start to strip it down tomorrow night.

I am going to start with the interior and then work from the front back.  Any advice would be great!

There was already a hole in the floor where a previous owner had screwed a load of wood framing to the floor for some bikes. I just screwed masonary bolt into it.

I did similar trying to get my mini up my driveway. There is a large hook screwed into the wall of our house so I attached one end of a ratchet strap to it and the other to the mini and prayed to God that I didn’t pull the hook and half the wall out lol.

Look forward to seeing you progress with this

??
Glad I'm not the only one to do this. I have to admit I was a bit worried about the bolt flying into my head.
