Amazingly every Mini I've owned has had fixed rear quarter lights including my current '98 JDM Cooper!

However, due to the larger size fixed glass no longer being available (and one side of mine having the smaller glass fitted in a fixed seal!) I'm going to convert to opening rear quarter lights. I have the glass/frames complete with the hook pivot hinges and opener assemblies, plus I have new opening light seals, but is there anything else I'll need? Being a '98 shell would all the mounting points be in place behind the trim?

At this stage I'm assuming that all I'll need is some suitable screws to mount everything but I've absolutely no experience of the opening versions!

Stu.

you will most likely need a drill as well as I don't think there are any holes for the screws.

The mounting are there, I've just converted my 94 sprite,

Fit the window rubber
Offer up window to shell
Drill screw holes
Paint drilled holes to prevent corrosion

Simple mod I've done several times. I invariably drive with my rear windows open whatever the weather. Great sound if you have a big bore exhaust fitted too!

I've been wondering if this can be done/  All my previous Minis had opening rear windows.  I now have a '96 Rover SPI with fixed rear windows.  Can anyone direct me to the source of the ones that open and that I can install?

I was wondering if It is easy to go in reverse and convert back from opening to fixed? Anyone done that?

I've got a pair of fixed rear glass and rubbers off a 1990 city. Just sitting in my garage.
PM me if anyone wants them.

In therory harder as its not 5 screws. The window rubber has to be pulled into the frame rather than just screwed into place. plus you will have the holes left in the panels.

Plus if you need it, replacement glass is no longer available.
