Hi all,

I recently bought a new rear quarter window set as i broke one of mine, and these are tinted green instead of clear. I went to fit the windows and after attaching them on the hinge side, I realised the holes where the latches connect to the interior are in a different place... turns out the latches on these new windows sit slightly higher!

Has anyone else had this issue, and how did you resolve it? I am hesitant to drill new holes unless absolutely necessary, as there is only a few mm of plastic trim and then it looks like drilling into the metal... Any suggestions?

I have a 97 MPi Mini Cooper with the opening rear-quarter windows.

Thanks!

Could it be the earlier Windows had the lower mount locations?

The catch does indeed sit in a different position for SPI/MPI cars.

You need the correct windows, they're slightly thicker glass -you can identify them by the Black printing on them (pre-injection windows have white printing).

Not sure why you say your windows were clear glass? (or maybe i'm reading your thread wrong)

MPI/SPI as far as i know always Sundym green.... i suppose someone could have changed them as the Mk3/Mk4 clear glass will probably fit the frames but ideally you always want to keep the original MPI windscreen as it was also thicker to cope with the airbag going off.

Have you still got the original N/S rear-quater frame as i need to replace mine ;-)

Ah blast, I thought the windows were the same...
Mine have definitely been replaced before, because there's two sets of holes on the driver side middle pillar, but I didn't realise the green tint was standard?

Either way, I'm stuck with these windows now (as the clear one is broke) so I think I might have to drill the holes anyway :/
