Smiths Clock: Terminals

Best Answer richmondclassicsnorthwales , 15 June 2019 - 08:37 PM

Hi

I have fitted these repeatedly, The small terminal is the negative, the large is the positive, through a 3 amp fuse

Once fitted, hold on the black button to adjust the time, the dials rotate until you stop for the dials

I have added the further instructions - hence the edit

Hi,

I'm finally getting around to fitting some dials. First in is the clock but I've lost the paperwork that goes with it. Two terminals - which one is power and which is earth?

If I have to guess I will go with the larger terminal being power, or maybe earth. No, power, definitely power. OR possibly earth.

Help!!!!!

You have a choice to make.  One will make you a hero, the other will change things forever.  Choose wisely.

You'd think an earth terminal wouldn't need to be insulated from the metal body of the clock.  If you dismantle it you may be able to work it out.

I was gonna say check continuity from body to either terminal, but doesnt help if they can be posotive ground

I don't know if they are polarised but when I've fitted them up, I've connected the +ve to the big terminal and the -ve to the small. I've fitted quite a few and wired all of them the same way. While it was a good while ago that I fitted my first, as it has different terminals, does indicate that they are likely polarised and so I'm sure I would have looked in to it before connecting.
