Top Dash Pad Removal ...help

:ohno:   Big help needed still   1998 cooper top dash pad removal  , got the nuts off the 3 bolts but theres no way the fixed bolt in the centre will clear enough to get the top dash out , tried everything .

Can anyone please help . 2nd pic is from underside of the dash

The easiest way is to remove the windscreen but if you don't want to do that, it should still come out but with a struggle as it pushes against the windscreen rubber.

They’re incredibly tricky to remove with the windscreen in place.

You can in some cases hold onto the dash pad and rotate it towards yourself (windscreen end up, dash end down) but I’ve found it’s normally quicker to remove the screen.

never removed windscreen how hard is it ?

The first one i did came out so easy with the screen in.

 

but ive never managed to get any more out with screen in.  I even began to think I imagined doing the first one.

ITS OUT !!!!!   TF 4 THAT !!!!   think going to need a new top rail though :shifty: can you buy these  separate ?

its not that hard to remove.

First, open all 3 bolts.
Second, push the middle bolt backwards - this will bend the "U" shape bolt holder towards the bulkhead
Third, pull dash out. 

When installing, reverse and bend back the bolt frame :)

think the upper dash rail is going to need to be replaced ,  does the edge go under the window rubber its hard to see.

Yes the scuttle panel, bulkhead and top dash rail are all spot welded together and form the seam that the windscreen seal sits on.
