Hi,
I've had loads of problems with the bonnet not latching properly (pooping up when you try and drive). I've realised a few things
1. The slam panel is a bit bent. I believe it's meant to have a slightly raised section (tilted forward)
2. The spring around the bonnet pin is very old and weak
3. The bonnet pin is stuck fast.
4. The nut the bonnet pin screws in to looks to be rounded.
So, I've cut the old spring off but for the life of me I can't get the pin out.
Anyone got any ideas to get it undone? The top end of it is painted and because of where it is, I can't seem to get in there to scrape the paint off to get penetrating fluid in there so I've had to resort to spraying it up from the bottom but its not helping much. I don't want to end up butchering the metal panel the pin is screwed through if I can help it.
Once that's done, I can then restart the ball-ache that is aligning the pin and catch again.
Thanks,
Rod
