Hi, I have the 13” wheels and sportpack arches on my recently purchased Mini. However I’ve noticed that when there are 2 adults and 1 child in the car that rear arches are pretty much touching the arches. It’s fine when on my own.

I’m assuming this is something to do with the rear suspension. Any ideas and remedies would be appreciated.

Thanks

is it rubbing on the arch or the body or the radius arm???

if its the arch , ya have to take it off and redrill the holes...…….

if its the body summits bent  or more likely the doughnuts old and squashed to much new doughnuts with hi lows ….

radius arm need spacers putting on 6/8mm cannot quite remember ………...

OP - from your introduction the other day, I seem to remember it was a factory Sportpack on your Paul Smith? If so, the arch position/fitment and everything else should be ok from factory (unless it's been messed about with and put back incorrectly after restoration for example). So likely culprit is very worn/collapsed donuts as Steve says. But if that is the case, it would also look pretty low when the car isn't loaded. Is that case? Then perhaps the weight of multiple occupants is just tipping it over the edge.

The sports pack cars had raised suspension as big wide tyres don’t really work with the mini body.

Hi, from what i can tell i think it is factory sport pack on the PS. It has got a new rear subframe a few years ago according to the history but no mention of suspension repairs/replacements. My initial thoughts from research it the donuts but need to work out how to check that. Not sure what suspension is fitted. Will have to take a closer look.

This is how it looks unloaded. Any comments on if it is too low?

Sportpack cars generally sit quite a bit higher than that at the back, so I'd say either it's been lowered with hi-los, or the donuts are shot.

Never knew there was a factory Sportspack option on the Paul Smith?

If I remember correctly there were additional wheel spacers on the rear drums on the Sportspack.
