Been offered either. Which one is 'best' as a donor for a race gearbox. Ie new gearset & lsd

The DAM 5626 for sure.

 

The DAM 2886 is a fairly weak gearbox casting.

Turns out guy wanted WAY to much for an empty case. Hoping to find another in the wanted section.

I don't sell cheap ****. You wanted an empty case. My empty case is a gearbox that I had spent time stripping, cleaning off gaskets, acid dipping, crack testing and vapour blasting, threads all chased through, measuring selector forks for wear, ready to use. I work it out that there was 5hrs labour in the casing. £50 for the casing, £100 Labour.
