Hi everyone, wondering if anyone can help my identify the engine in my 85 mini. The person we bought it off told us it's a 1275 cooper s engine. It's got an 11 stud head on it. The serial number tag says BHM1454E 100484.

Any help would be much appreciated!

It appears to be a Gold Seal 998 Engine.

The 'Gold Seal' is a Factory Reconditioned exchange unit.

Interesting as BHM1458 is a A+998 low compression engine.

But then someone may have just fitted an old tag to a replacement power unit.

..does it have tappet covers (on the block directly below the cylinder head in/ex ports) ?  if not, would suggest a 1275 block
